Kenneth's Obituary
Kenneth James Dykstra, 64, of South Haven, passed away, Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born February 26, 1953 to Gordon and Betty (Laabs) Dykstra in South Haven. Ken graduated with the South Haven High School Class of 1971. Ken worked as a truck driver and farmer. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local #49 many years. Ken loved spending his time with grandchildren, family, and his many close friends.
He is preceded in death by his father – Gordon J. Dykstra and a brother – Douglas Dykstra.
Ken is survived by his children – Adam Dykstra and Trevor (Nicole) Dykstra both of South Haven, mother – Betty Dykstra of South Haven, siblings – Karen (Mike) Verdonk of South Haven, Keith (Tammy) Dykstra of Hartford and Kyle (John) Teichow of Allendale, and grandchildren – Elly, Melissa, Quinn, Cadence, Kaiya, Gracie, and Layton. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Visitation will also take place at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. Ken will be laid to rest in the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Garden. Contributions may be made in Ken’s memory to the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 06321 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090 or to a charity of your choice.
