Clair's Obituary

 

Clair Bennett Mills, 97, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born January 23, 1921 to Ira and Genevieve (Bennett) Mills in Lansing, Michigan.  Clair served his country during in the Army during World War II.  Clair married Alice (Cooley) Mills on October 4, 1947 in South Haven, Michigan and shared 64 years of marriage before her passing in 2011. Clair worked as the chief operator of the water filtration plant for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Clair loved to go deer hunting and work with stained glass.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, and his son, Leslie Mills and daughter, Lucinda Ferguson. His siblings – Winifred La Fever, Mina Bodfish, and Jarvis Mills all of South Haven.

Clair is survived by his children – Douglas Mills of South Haven, Michigan and Fayvian (Steve) Perkins of Homosassa, Florida.  Daughter in laws -  Bernice and Evelyn Mills. Son in law - Dean Ferguson of New Jersey.  Eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive.


Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 4 at 11:00 AM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven with Pastor Jerry Koller officiating. Military Honors will follow the service.
