John's Obituary
John V. Mercado, 88, of South Haven, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 in South Haven. He was born August 7, 1930 to Raymond and Juanita (Valencia) Mercado in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. John loved to bowl and enjoyed walks on the pier. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and reading The Bible.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by three sons – John Jr., Ray, and Mathew Mercado, and siblings – Phillip, Carmelo, Emmett, Lin, and Rosie Mercado.
John is survived by his children – James Mercado of Bangor, Lawrence Mercado of Bangor, Michael (Gayle) Mercado of South Haven and Juanita Mercado of South Haven, and siblings – Tony Mercado of Puerto Rico, and Josephine Mercado of Connecticut. Nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the First Church of God in South Haven. Memorial services will follow visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor Steve Stark officiating at the church. Contributions may be made in John’s memory to the First Church of God, 567 Broadway Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
