Charles's Obituary
Charles Curtis Brown, 67, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born May 1, 1952 to Vincent and Frieda (Hodges) Brown in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Charles graduated from Covert High School with the Class of 1970. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Charles enjoyed fishing, talking, watching sports, listening to music, and working on the family farm. He was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert.
He is preceded in death by his father – Vincent Brown; daughter – Shonea Berry; brother - Frederick Brown.
Charles is survived by his wife – Debbie Brown of South Haven; mother – Frieda Brown of Covert, Michigan; children – Leslie Howard of Galesburg, Michigan, Charles (Shirley) Brown, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, and Colin Allison of Houston, Texas; grandchildren – Brian, Naaz, and Donavin; siblings – Eloise (John) Sherrod of Lansing, Michigan, Gwendolyn Curtis of Covert, Michigan, and Lorraine Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan; and Aunt Frankie and Izett Curtis of Chicago, Illinois.
Wake will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert. Funeral services will follow the wake at 11:00 AM with Pastor Henry Allen officiating at the church. Charles will be laid to rest at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
