Richard George Sobkowiak

Richard George Sobkowiak, age 60, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Michigan.  He was born on August 16, 1958 to George and Mary (Dell) Sobkowiak in South Haven, Michigan.

 Richard is survived by son, Richard T Sobkowiak (Brandy) of San Antonio, Texas; step-son, Shannon Gregory of San Antonio, Texas; three loving sisters, Margaret Dratz (John) of Saugatuck, Helen Smith (Curtis) of Paw Paw, Dorothy Lockwood (Dave) of South Haven; and one loving brother, Thomas Sobkowiak (Tammy) of Holland.  He is also survived by one niece, Angela Lockwood, three nephews, Eric Lockwood, Michael Redder and Ethan Colton.

The family is forever grateful for the love and support of a very special aunt, Della Fink of Bangor.

 Richard was a lifetime resident of South Haven and graduated from L.C. Mohr High School in 1977.  He worked at Bohn Aluminum, National Motors and Wycoff Chemical Company.Richard was best known for his sense of humor and antics as well as his perseverance through life’s many challenges.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all who knew him.  

 The family will honor Richard at a private viewing at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven.  Family and friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Moose Lodge, 1025 Wells Street, in South Haven to share memories of Richards life.
