Steven "Steve"'s Obituary
Steven Scott Henderson, 73, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his home under Hospice care. He was born July 28, 1946 to William Wallace and Charlotte Irene (Holmes) Henderson in South Haven, Michigan. Steve married Debra Lange on October 12, 1985. He worked for Jack’s Super Value for 20 years and Golden Brown Bakery for 12 years. Steve proudly served his country in Viet Nam. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Steve raced cars at Martin US 131 Drag Strip in his young and foolish days. He enjoyed the music of the 50’s and 60’s and the old TV programs. His favorite program was “I Love Lucy”, a love shared by his daughter Laura and the reason Laura’s daughter is named Lucy. Steve loved all the old horror and sci-fi movies and remembering his childhood days at the Michigan Theatre.
He is preceded by his parents, sister - Diana June (Henderson) Aviles, and best friend – Ron Levine.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debra Lange Henderson of South Haven; children – Laura Rae (Dennis) Pierce and daughter Lucy, of Cadillac, Michigan, Amber Henderson of Benton Harbor, Camden Scott (Samantha) Henderson and children Gavin and Savannah of Benton Harbor, Sarah Mills and daughters Dawn and Rachel of Baroda, Rebecca (Dean) Cook and daughters Morgan, Arianna and Mikayla of Muskegon, Jennifer (Juston Griffin) Mills of Lawrence and son Declan, Troy Henderson and children Willow, Lily and Julian of South Haven; brother-in-law – Hal Rodrigues of Puerto Rico; nieces and nephews – Lita (Jeff) Lewis and children Jamie Diane, her son J.D. and Samantha of South Haven, Jamie (Lynn) Bainbridge and children Aly, Courtney and Cameron of Barrington, Illinois, David (Sarah) Aviles and son Christopher and his son Hal of Kalamazoo. Also surviving are best friends - Barb Levine of Stevensville, and Terry (Carol) Leverton of Virginia.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. Steve will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
