Clarence's Obituary

 

Clarence was born to Willie and Rosie Lee Peterson on March 1, 1949 at home in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Clarence spent his first seven years in Benton Harbor before his parents decided to move to Covert in 1957. He attended and graduated from Covert Schools in 1969.

At a young age, Clarence and his siblings were taught how to work. They started by picking fresh fruit in season in orchards and fields. They picked blueberries, strawberries, apples, peaches, grapes, and blackberries. He later refurbished homes in Chicago, Illinois and worked at several companies in his lifetime, including Superior Steel in Benton Harbor, Swing-Lo Suspended Scaffold Company and Palisades Power Plant in Covert, and South Haven Rubber Company and Do-It Corporation in South Haven. Clarence served his country in the United States Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Edward Lee Moses Malachi and Rosie Lee Peterson, brothers – Timothy and Benjamin Peterson, maternal grandparents – Mr. Albert and Mrs. Francsola Hooks, and paternal grandparents – Mr. Elijah and Mrs. Benjamin Peterson.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Rosa Linda Peterson, children – Twanna Warren, Linda Baham, Michael and Jessica Danczyk, brothers – Willie (Rashmer) Rufus, Oscer (Linda Kay) Lee, Charles (Joyce Lee) Edward, and Ulysses Ray (Linda Jean) Peterson and sister - May Frances (Dwayne) Herring. Clarence is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and many cousins, his Gospel Tabernacle family and many bulldog friends.

The family of Clarence Peterson wishes to acknowledge and extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to Gospel Tabernacle, Family Gospel, Filbrandt Family Funeral Home and all that assisted by showing their love, time, and support.

A wake will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert, Michigan. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Pastor Henry Allen officiating. Clarence will be laid to rest in Covert Cemetery in Covert, Michigan.
