Betty's Obituary
A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Buchanan Christian Church 112 W. 3rd St., Buchanan, MI with Pastor Nathan Babcock officiating. Inurnment will take place following at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. A time of visitation will take place prior from 11:30-noon also at the church.
Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to Buchanan Christian Church or Miss Buchanan Inc.

Betty was born on November 18, 1947, to William and Olga (Eppic) Lozicki in Auburn, IN. Shortly after, her family moved to Buchanan, MI, where she graduated from Buchanan High School in 1965. That same year, she was honored as Miss Buchanan. Betty was also a member of Buchanan Christian Church.
After high school, Betty began her career at Intercity Bank/ICB Bank where she devoted nearly twenty years as a Loan Officer before eventually moving from Buchanan.
Betty found joy in tending both her vegetable and flower gardens and canned many of the vegetables, particularly canning dill pickles. She enjoyed bird watching, feeding the squirrels, and eventually even earned their trust enough to pet them.
Remembered for her quick wit and generous heart, Betty loved hosting gatherings. Her home was always kept in immaculate and beautifully decorated conditions. She was an excellent cook and deeply cherished every moment spent with her family.
Betty is survived by her husband, Joseph Herbert; bonus children, Jennifer Firestone, Jonathan Herbert, Joshua Herbert; bonus grandchildren, Sanaya Firestone, Nadia Firestone, Avia Firestone; sister, Susan Falvey; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Lozicki; nieces, Tracy (Rick) Young, Ronni (Steve) Redman, Amy Falvey, Mary (Tommy) Scalf; nephew, Jim (Jane) Falvey and many great-nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Olga Lozicki; sister, Nancy (Herman) Pelley; brother, Ronald Lozicki, brother-in-law, Jim Falvey and beloved cat, Smudge.
