Betty's Obituary

Betty Jean Molter, 98, of Decatur, departed to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 13, 2023. She was born October 4, 1924 in Benton Harbor to Harry and Estella (Jeffery) Case.

The family will receive guests from 11am until time of celebration of life service at 12pm, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur; Pastor Doug Tipken officiating. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial contributions may be given to Centrica Care Navigators (Hospice), www.centricacare.org or to the Hartford United Methodist Church, 425 E. Main St., Hartford, MI 49057.

Growing up, Betty was blessed with five brothers. When she married her husband, Eugene, in 1950, she prayed she would have as many children, and she was, indeed, given five of her own. As a teenager, she was a 4H member and later was a leader. She graduated in 1943 from Benton Harbor High School. In her younger years, Betty always lived on a farm; gardening and raising flowers made her happy. She enjoyed fishing and hunting, and always received a laugh from the neighbors as she made her way down the lane with her orange outfit and gun in hand. Betty had many interests which included cooking, canning, crocheting, sewing, reading and writing letters. She was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, where she attended many events and enjoyed keeping herself busy. Betty loved her family dearly and will be missed by all.

Betty is survived by her children, Ellen K. Miles, Patrick (April) Molter, Arlene (Bernie Fassett) Alsup, Mark Molter, and Christine (John) Nevill; 13 grandchildren; many great, and great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her brother, Morton “Mac” Case.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her brothers, Victor, Don, Gordon, and Pete; and her parents.
