Betty's Obituary
Betty J. Schoetzow, 96, of Dowagiac, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025, at Beacon Kalamazoo Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI.
She was born on November 22, 1929, Eau Claire, MI, the daughter of Lyle and Blanche (Evans) Merrill. On May 15, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Harry Schoetzow.
Surviving are her two children, Carol Earl of Paw Paw and Ron (Diane) Schoetzow; six grandchildren, Doug Earl, Greg Earl, Mark (Kathy) Schoetzow, Brandi Schoetzow, Lisa (Doug) Romeo and Dean Kietzer; twelve great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Zachary, Jamie, Brandon, Alexis, Jayla, Autumn, Paul, Rachel, Ryan, Ava and C.J.; four great-great-grandchildren, Braxton, Isabella, Taron and Liam; three sisters, Louise Duffy, Mildred Miller and Marian Shemick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 48 years, Harry; two daughters, Marcia Wymer and Rita Rayhill; parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Honoring Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will be celebrating her life privately.
Inurnment will be in Missions Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles, MI.
Arrangements were entrusted to Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, Dowagiac.
