Beverly "Bev"'s Obituary

Beverly Herman, 69, of South Haven, Michigan, passed away on November 22, 2024. Born on August 29, 1955, to Anthony and Nelda Virgo, she spent her early years in South Haven, enjoying horseback rides through the countryside and along the beach with her sisters.

As a single mother, Beverly raised her three children—Heather, Amiee, and Ray. After working towards her degree at Lake Michigan College, she was employed as security guard at Palisades Nuclear Plant. There she met her future husband, Art.

After her children were raised, Beverly pursued a creative career as a jewelry artist and beading instructor. She traveled extensively to share her beading skills, embracing adventure and the open road. New Orleans became her longtime home, where she led the New Orleans Bead Society. Through her teaching, she shared her knowledge and built lasting friendships, always welcoming new faces with warmth and laughter. She particularly enjoyed teaching on an annual cruise with her daughter Heather, as they visited Caribbean islands making jewelry and memories.

In her later years, Beverly returned to South Haven to be near her family. They were the center of her world. She took pride in her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and was always their biggest cheerleader. Family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and everyday chats over coffee brought her true joy.

Beverly faced many challenges in life but remained strong and hopeful. Her faith helped her through difficult times, and she always sought beauty in the world around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Mary. Beverly is survived by her husband, Art; her children, Heather, Amiee, and Ray; her grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Katelynn, Joshua, Allison, and Jocelyn; and her siblings, Rosanne, Susan, and Chris.
