Tim's Obituary

Charles Timothy “Tim” Scott, 66, of Galien, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by loved ones. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel.

Tim was born on December 17, 1954, to Leslie and Ellen Scott in East Lansing, MI. After receiving his undergraduate degree and MBA from Michigan State University, he remained a lifelong Spartan fan and supporter. He spent 30+ years in Chicago, where he excelled in the advertising world. Tim worked at J Walter Thompson, Foote Cone & Belding, and DDB Worldwide Communications Group before becoming President and CEO at McGarryBowen. He worked with numerous global companies, including Disney and Kraft, and has accumulated numerous Effie, Cannes Lion and Webby awards throughout his career. He then went on to become Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Land O’ Lakes in Minnesota, from which he retired.

Tim had a lifelong passion for dogs. He and his partner, Jeff Welch, had numerous dogs during their 23 years in Chicago. In 2017, following his lifelong passion, Tim and Jeff moved to Galien and opened Welcott Farm, a dog daycare and boarding facility. Within a short amount of time, their dedication and compassion towards dogs solidified their business as an integral part of Harbor Country. Tim also served on the Board of the Michiana Humane Society, where he most notably coordinated the Feeding Hope program, providing donated animal food to a local food pantry as well as the Meals on Wheels of SW Michigan program. They say that all dogs go to heaven, and that gives his family comfort knowing he's surrounded by what he loves the most.

Tim is survived by his partner, Jeff Welch, daughter Courtney (Joel) Bennett, and beautiful grandchildren Owen, Caroline and Amelia Bennett. Also surviving are his siblings Bill Scott, Leslie Forbes and Mary Scott. Tim was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Michiana Humane Society, 722 Indiana Highway 212, Michigan City, IN 46360. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
