Colleen's Obituary
Colleen Joan Evans, 91, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living in St. Joseph, MI. Colleen was born May 1, 1932, in Toledo, OH to James and Florence Bracken. She is survived by her children Patrick (Carol Drake) of Seattle, WA; Mark of Richland, MI; Kathleen (Steve) Clark of Loudon, TN; and Lynsay (Mark) Taylor of Sacramento, CA. She was affectionately known as DeeDa to her four grandchildren, Kyle Clark, Alex (Lindsay) Clark, Aiden Taylor, and Camren Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Gloria Hoskinson.
Colleen graduated cum laude from the University of Toledo and was a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority. After graduation, she worked for Owens Illinois in Toledo and met her future husband John (Jack) Evans. They moved to St. Joseph in 1959.
While raising her family, Colleen found time to volunteer in various activities. These included activities her children were involved in and personal interests including the Panhellenic Society. She also enjoyed hosting bridge club and participating in bowling league and golf with neighbors and friends. Colleen was also a long-time member of the St. Joseph Catholic parish and volunteered at the rectory weekly for several years. She also volunteered at the Soup Kitchen in Benton Harbor. Colleen was blessed with having a large circle of friends that provided laughs and memories throughout the years. She always enjoyed family get togethers during holidays and special occasions, particularly a surprise birthday party when she turned 70. Colleen was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching football, basketball, golf, and rooting for her University of Toledo Rockets if she could find them on TV.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:30–10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
