Daniel's Obituary

Daniel Robert Harbison, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Corewell Lakeland Health Hospital in St. Joseph, with his family at his side.

A Celebration of Life Homegoing will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Union Memorial AME Church, 911 S. Crystal Ave, Benton Harbor, MI. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 6:00PM until 8:30PM at the church. Dan was born October 25, 1944 in Morganton, North Carolina to Samuel Robey and Ella Jane (Fullwood) Harbison, Sr. After high school, Dan went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969. He graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC in 1972. On May 22, 1976, he married the love of his life, Rosie Boatner, and together they raised 3 children. He was a hard worker, a proud engineer, and a wonderful husband and father. He worked for Bosch for over 31 years before his retirement. While working at Bosch, he owned and operated Rover Security Guard Agency. Dan had a passion for helping people in and around his community. He was a proud Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and was a member for almost 50 years. He was a member of the Stevensville Lions Club, Club 18, American Legion Post 410, served as a Trustee of his church, and had been involved in various other clubs, organizations and groups over the years. Dan had a love for woodworking, and enjoyed making bird houses and bird feeders. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rosie Harbison; children; Danielle Harbison, Natasha (Rashad) Holloway, and Daniel Robert (Lauren) Harbison II; grandchildren, Daniel “Trey” Robert Harbison III, Deacon Gregory Harbison, Reed Anthony Holloway, Drake Zander Harbison; siblings, Samuel (Joan) Harbison Jr, of Delaware, George Michael Harbison of North Carolina and Linda Kay Givens of North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ella Harbison and siblings, Herman Fullwood, Betty Harbison, Effie Harbison and Patsy Harbison.
