Darleen's Obituary
She was born to parents Margaret Mortenson and Woodrow Steele on January 19th, 1943, in Muskegon, MI. She spent her younger years living in Muskegon, MI. After graduating from Muskegon High School, she met the love of her life, Ronald Rowe. She and Ronald wed in 1963. They soon after relocated to Coloma MI and had two children.
Darleen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, hosting gatherings, and spending time with her loved ones. She was dedicated to her skincare routine, and her smile lit up the room. Darleen was very artistic whether it was painting, knitting, crocheting, sewing or singing. She spent many years working as a Medical Receptionist in Southwest Michigan. Darleen and Ron enjoyed attending dinner theater shows and playing cards with their group of friends.
Darleen is proceeded in death by her loving husband: Ronald Rowe, her parents: Margaret Mortenson and Woodrow Steele, her grandparents: Dudley Smyth and Anna Smith and, her infant brother: David Steele. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Steven and Denise Rowe, her grandchildren: Ryan Berry (Briana Watson and boys), Rae’vin Whitfield, Elissa (Michael) Case; her greatgrandchildren: Everlee, Swaizee and, MJ Case and Rian, Ronin and, Rylo Berry; her sister Cynthia (David) Spyke, and her sister-in-law Patricia (the late Jim) Schaefer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Darleen’s dear friend Carole Sternaman and the staff at Corewell Health Merlin & Carolyn Hanson Hospice Center.
A visitation with the family will be held at the Coloma United Methodist Church, 144 S. Church St. Coloma on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10am-11am. A celebration of Darleen’s life will follow from 11am-12pm and a luncheon in Darleen’s memory will be held afterwards. Memorial contributions may be given to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation (https://www.susanmastals.org/donation), which provided Darleen with many resources in her battle with ALS.
