David “Dave” Andres, 81, of Baroda, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 28, 2025, at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph, MI, Hanson Hospice Center, Lincoln Township or Royalton Township Fire Department. Dave was born September 13, 1943, in Benton Harbor, MI to Roland & Martha (Fritz) Andres. He graduated in 1961 from Lakeshore High School and then served his country as an army reserve where he was honorably discharged in 1970. On September 25, 1965, he married Sharon Kolberg at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville, MI. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this September. Dave enjoyed his childhood working on the family farm. He left the farm to work as a truck driver at Bud Kerly Sales for over 20 years. He then returned to school completing his journeyman certificate as a tool and die maker working at Metal Processors. He also served as a volunteer firefighter on the Tri-Unit Fire Department for over 20 years. Dave was an active member at Grace Lutheran Church where he served as head usher for many years and on various boards. He enjoyed ice fishing, morel mushroom hunting, making homemade wine, grilling BBQ chicken, and watching sports with his dog, Odie.
Dave is survived by his wife, Sharon; children Shelly (Heath) Weich, Kayla, Scotty; Sheri (Mark) Bareis, Abby, Nicole, Ryan; Michael (Ginger) Andres, Andy, Chase and Allison. He is also survived by his sisters Carolyn (Robert) Gruetzmacher, Barbara (David) Haught and Marilyn (David) Crowder. He was preceded in death by both parents.
