Dennis's Obituary
Dennis Duane Bachman, 64, of Coloma, passed away November 10, 2023. A Celebration of life Service will be held on Thursday, November 16 at 11 AM at Crystal Springs Church of God, 1465 Pipestone Rd, Benton Harbor, MI, with Pastor Bill Bridgman officiating. Burial will follow at Coloma City Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 15 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Dennis was born on March 27, 1959 in Benton Harbor to Roy & June (Wilcox) Bachman. He was a graduate of Coloma High School and Lake Michigan College. On June 30, 1984, Dennis married the love of his life, Debora Cerny, at St. Paul’s Church in Watervliet. During his younger years, he enjoyed taking the stage with community theater, and sharing his humor and singing voice with others. Dennis’ working years took him to Knoxville, TN as a District Manager for Little Red Shoe House, before moving back to the area where he worked in graphics at the Herald Palladium. Dennis then left the workforce to be Mr. Mom for his two girls.
Over the years, he passed on his love for old movies and humor. Whenever asked what he was up to, his response was always “Mildewing”. Other hobbies included reading, camping and fishing and in recent years could be found out on the lake with his wife or painting ceramics. In his 64 years of life, he was many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandpa, an uncle, and a friend.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Debora Bachman; daughters, Rebecca (David) Mercado and Miranda (Thomas) Cuatt; grandchildren, Benjamin and Kayleigh Mercado; brothers, Al (Judy) Bachman, Ken (Sherry) Bachman, and Dale Bachman; mother-in-law, Marla Cerny; brother-in-law, David (Christine) Cerny; and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and June Bachman; and father-in-law, Raymond Cerny.
