Dolly's Obituary
Dolores “Dolly” A. Overton, 72, of Decatur, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 3, 2023 at her home in Decatur. She was born July 30, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Dominic and Sophia (Mroczek) Sienkiewicz.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 500 W. St Mary St., Decatur. Interment will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church, Decatur, MI.
Dolly was a life-long follower of the Catholic faith, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Chicago, and later becoming a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. Her faith was very important to her, but nothing was more important to Dolly than her family. Dolly not only cared for her own children but she spent many years caring for other children in her home daycare as well and during her time working in the Decatur Schools System. Dolly also loved tending to her flower gardens and participating in local craft fairs. She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, and loving grandmother who will be missed dearly by her family.
Dolly is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard “Dick” Overton, whom she married August 26, 1978 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur; her children, Laurie (Chris) Silvia, Russell (Christina) Overton, and Jenna (Tom) Leiter; her grandchildren, Hailey, Megan, Jacob, Morgan, Olivia, Madison, Sydney, and Owen; her mother, Sophia Sienkiewicz; and her sisters, Marianne (Paul) Lamoreaux, Diane (Dan) Rajzer, and Patty (Phil) Hover. She is preceded in death by her father.
