Donald Carl Phillips (Donnie/Don), 55, of Stevensville, MI, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 in his home surrounded by family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Donnie was born on June 9, 1968 in St. Joseph, MI to Donald and Barbara (Boffmeyer) Phillips. He was a graduate of Lakeshore High School in 1987. On May 14, 1994 in St. Joseph he married Shari Ann Williams and shortly after began his family and his career as a self-employed home improvement contractor.
Donnie will be remembered as someone who was quick to volunteer his help to family, friends and neighbors with whatever was needed. But he also enjoyed being a “quiet Prankster” who loved playing little tricks on people and seeing how long it would take them to notice. Donnie enjoyed deer hunting, spending time up north at “Schadler’s Paradise” or at Camp Wahoo in the mountains of Pennsylvania. One of his favorite things was getting together for family dinners and he rarely missed a good meal.
Donnie is survived by his wife Shari; two sons – Andrew Phillips and Jacob Phillips both of Stevensville, MI; his mother - Barbara Phillips of Stevensville; and siblings – David (Annie) Phillips, Brenda (Barry) Gravitt and Douglas (Christine) Phillips. Donnie is preceded in death by his father Donald P. Phillips.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, September 14, 11:00am, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, with Pastor Christopher Kruchkow officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, MI. Visitation with the family is on Wednesday, September 13, from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. The family asks that everyone dress casual (jeans, shorts, athletic wear) for these services as Don would want it that way. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
