Donald's Obituary

In Loving Memory of Don Zachary (June 26, 1942 – November 2, 2025)

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, the family of Don Zachary shares that he was ushered home to the Lord with Amazing Grace on November 2, 2025. Don lived a life defined by kindness, loyalty, laughter, and a quiet, personal faith.

Born June 26, 1942, to Chester and Dorthy Zachary. Don spent 45 beautiful years married to his beloved wife Alice Zachary, remaining devoted to her through every joy and every challenge including his battle with Alzheimer’s. Even as his memory faded, his love for Alice and his connection to God never wavered- a testament to the strength of his heart and the depth of his spirit.

Don was a man who found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. His laughter filled every room, and his stories- those classic “Don stories”- brought warmth, disbelief, and smiles to everyone lucky enough to hear them. Whether he was holding babies, mowing his lawn, or sharing in a game of “Hearts” (which he seemed to win every time!) Don’s gentle humor and easygoing nature made every moment brighter.

He loved being outdoors when he was bowling, golfing, playing volleyball, horseshoes, or taking a slow walk in Nature. He took great pride in his family, home, and his perfectly kept lawn- a reflection of his care and dedication in all things.

Don’s legacy of love continues through his family: Alice, his devoted wife of 45 years, his children Alan (Veronica), Andrew (Linny), Michele (Mark), Ammy (Jared), who blessed him with 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is remembered by his sister and sisters-in-law, brothers and brothers-in laws, nieces, nephews, as well as countless friends who were blessed by his friendship and laughter.

Don’s kindness, humor and steadfast faith will live on in the stories we share, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit remains- guiding, smiling, and reminding us all, to take the time to laugh, love deeply, and keep our lawns just a little greener.

“Twas Grace that brought me safe thus far, and Grace will lead me home.”-Amazing Grace.
