Dorothy Laverne Kocsis, 92, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at her home.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the Decatur VFW, 560 N Phelps St. Those wishing to leave an online condolence for the family may do so at www.newellchapel.com.
Dorothy was born December 13, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to Joseph and Julia (Raboty) Sabo. On May 11, 1956, she married the love of her life, Elmer E. Kocsis. Together they raised 6 children. Dorothy worked for many years at the University of Chicago Hospital as a housekeeper. In her spare time, she loved bowling and playing card games with her family. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, especially for her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her children, David A. (Donna) Kocsis, Daniel M. (Cathy) Kocsis, John J. Kocsis, Christina Beck and Lori A. (George) Pusty; grandchildren, Christa, Samantha, Dave, Katie, Kyle, John, Megan and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Brianna, Zoey, John, Tanner, Cadence and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Julia Sabo; husband, Elmer E. Kocsis, Sr; and son, Elmer E. Kocsis, Jr.
