Ken was born on March 4th, 1958, in Dix Hills, NY, to David & Nora (Kenny) Edwards. He attended St Anthony’s High School, graduating in 1976. Continuing his education, Ken attended College of the Holy Cross where he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate and earned a pre-medical degree. Ken joined the U.S. Navy and continued his medical degree at Upstate Medical University. After he graduated from medical school he trained at Rush in Chicago and pursued a fellowship in trauma medicine at Harborview in Seattle, Washington. He concluded his service in the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander at Great Lakes Naval Hospital before moving to St. Joseph with his wife Wendy and children David, Jordan and Kathleen.

Upon moving to St Joseph he joined James Amlicke to start Southwest Michigan Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Ken cared for countless patients during his career and improved their lives in so many ways. He had an unwavering commitment to improving the health of all residents of Southwest Michigan, and served as the Vice Chairman of the Berrien County Board of Health. Upon retirement he served as a volunteer for the Indian Health Service. In everything he did, he embraced the Jesuit mantra of “men and women for others”—whether with friends or strangers. He was a man of deep faith, an active parishioner at St Joseph Catholic Church, and he spent his final days in prayer hiking the Camino.

On July 30, 1983, Ken married the love of his life Wendy Redderoth in Syracuse, NY after meeting on the neurosurgery floor at Upstate Medical Center. They shared a beautiful life together, welcoming 3 children—David Ryan, Jordan Elizabeth, and Kathleen Nicole. They traveled the world together and lived life to the fullest. He had many meaningful lifelong friendships and loved spending time golfing with friends. He was always willing to mentor those who reached out to him for guidance on career and life. His life’s joy was his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of all of them.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Wendy; children, David (Kate) Edwards of North Bend, WA, Jordan (Brett) Neumann of Stevensville, MI, and Kathleen (Jordan) Lagomarcino of Prospect Heights, IL; as well as his grandchildren, Bennett Neumann and Sophie Lagomarcino. He was preceded in death by his parents, David & Nora Edwards and grandson, Connor Neumann.
