Dr. Leonard's Obituary
Dr. Leonard Marion Fisher, of Buchanan, was born in Watertown, SD., on February 2, 1938, and quietly passed away on January 2, 2026, in Buchanan, Michigan. He was the son of Harry Glenn Fisher and Rose Mary McMahon Fisher.
After graduating from Watertown High School in 1956 he moved with his family to Niles, Michigan. Subsequently he attended Western Michigan University where he received BS and MS degrees. In 1984 he graduated Cum Laude from Andrews University with a PhD in Philosophy and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society.
Leonard worked as a counselor for Indiana Rehabilitation Services for four years, specializing in psychiatric cases. Subsequently he started the first Psychiatric Halfway house in South Bend, Indiana for the local Mental Health Association. In 1987 Leonard opened his private practice called Psychological Services providing support to the community before becoming a forensic psychologist and an expert witness at the federal level. He retired in 2016.
Leonard married Mary Kay Rahiser February 23, 1973.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bernard and his son Wiliam Rahiser. He is survived by his wife, son, Brian (Kim), granddaughter Olivia, grandson Sebastian, sister Mary Ellen Grant, nieces Fran Ludwig, Julie Hess, Vicky Winslett, Kim Schermerhorn and nephew John Grant.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 219 S. State Street, Niles. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles. Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan.
