Edward Emil Eggert, 87, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away in his home on Saturday – November 15, 2025. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Ed was born on May 27, 1938 in Michigan City, IN to the late Edward Leo and Elsie (Sass) Eggert.
Ed was a 1956 graduate of New Buffalo High School. On October 16, 1965 he married Ruth Ann Kliss. He owned and operated “Eggerts Service” for over 50 years in New Buffalo. Ed was always available to help people in trouble, and to fix the ills of your vehicle. He was loved and will be missed by many a friend and especially by his family.
Ed is survived by his wife of over 60 years Ruth; and his son – John “Tiger” Eggert. Preceding him in death are two sisters – LaVerne Warnke and Marge Wente.
Visitation with the family is on Wednesday – November 19, from 5:00-8:00pm, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday – November 20, 11:00am, at the funeral home. Burial follows at Pine Grove Cemetery – New Buffalo.
