Eleanor's Obituary

Eleanor Joy Lambrecht, 90, of Dowagiac, died Sunday, June 8, 2025 after a long illness. She was greatly cherished by her family.

A memorial gathering will be held from 12:00am – 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 18, at Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00pm, with Pastor Stacey Wilder from Calvary Bible Church officiating. Burial of the urn to follow at Keeler Cemetery, 85537 Co Rd 687, Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society. Those wishing to leave an online condolence for the family may do so at www.clarkch.com.

Eleanor was born, February 5, 1935, in Decatur, to Kenneth and Irene (Fruzen) Brownell. A lifelong Dowagiac resident, she had worked for Heddon Lures, Lyon Industries, and as a lunch lady at Dowagiac Union High School. She married Larry Lambrecht on December 3, 1971, in Cassopolis. Larry preceded her in death in 2019.

Eleanor will be missed dearly by her daughters – Victoria (Mike) Jones, Penny Efting (Brian Lange), Judy (Scott) Efting and Trudy Lambrecht; sons – Steven Mead, Larry Lambrecht Jr., Ricky Mead and Michael (Brenda) Mead; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister – June Dings.

Eleanor will be remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother. Additionally, she had a great fondness for the outdoors including, camping in Baldwin and Canada, as well as, gardening.
