Betty's Obituary

Betty (Elizabeth) Mousseau, age 95 of St. Joseph, MI passed away at Hanson Hospice Center on 5/29/23. Per Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be arranged privately at a later date at William Penn Cemetery in Churchill, PA.

Betty was born on July 9, 1927 to Archie and Christina Wilson in Allanton, North Lanarkshire, Scotland coming to the United States with her family thru Ellis Island in 1928.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Mousseau, brother Archie Wilson, brother William Wilson, sister Jess (Wilson) McDonald.

Upon graduating from Swissvale High School outside of Pittsburgh, PA in 1943, she worked as a Draftsman at the Union Switch & Signal from 1945 thru 1955.

Betty married the love of her life, Robert A. Mousseau on September 10, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Swissvale, PA She and Bob settled in Penn Hills, PA and became the proud parents of two daughters, Janet Kim (Shipe), St. Joseph, MI and Christina Elizabeth (Connelly), Hanover, PA. Betty and Bob relocated to St. Joseph MI shortly after Bob retired and enjoyed their days together, until Bob’s passing on February 5, 2017.

Betty was a proud member of the Daughter’s of Scotia Lodge in Swissvale, PA. Betty served on the Zion Lutheran Church (Penn Hills) board for five years, was President of Fort McIntosh Club Ladies Auxiliary, Beaver, PA and a member of the Lincoln Township Senior Center in St. Joseph, MI

Betty enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, knitting, bridge and reading until her eye sight deteriorated. Her joy then became bird watching, special TV shows and large print books.

Betty is survived by her two daughter, Janet Shipe, St. Joseph, MI, Christina Connelly (Marc) , Hanover, PA, granddaughter, Emily (Shipe) Bergman, (Kristofer), Venetia, PA grandson Steven Shipe (Molly), Decatur, MI, grandson, Michael Connelly (Kirsten), Matthew Connelly, great-granddaughers, Sofia Grace Bergman, Olivia Anne Bergman, Lilah Shipe, Skylar Shipe , great-grandsons Riley Connelly, Parker Connelly and Jett Shipe.

Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to the Hanson Hospice Center, Lincoln Township Senior Center, The Berrien County Humane Center or a charity of your choice.
