Ernestine's Obituary

Ernestine Nickens was born September 25, 1975, in Kalamazoo to the union of Cassandra Nickens and Annise “Buckwoods” both whom preceded her in death. Ernie was called from earth to heaven on November 12, 2021.

Ernestine graduated from Dowagiac Union Highschool in 1993. Ernie worked for Brothers Bakery for 17yrs and went on to work for Genesis products the last 4 years. She loved spending time with her daughters, and loved helping people whenever she could. Ernie was known for her quiet nature yet she was very strong and out spoken

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; daughters, Tam’mea McNeal of South, Bend and Derria McNeal of Cassopolis; sisters, Tammy (Andre) Murff of Niles, Chiffon Gaskill of Niles, and Jackie Blair of West Memphis, Arkansas; brother Lamont Nickens of Cassopolis; nieces Quionna Nickens of Niles and Isabella Reed of South Bend; and nephew Quiante Nickens of Niles. She also leaves behind a host of aunts and uncles; and special friends, Derrick McNeal, Sheresa Williams, Nicki Ivens, Stacey White and Alice Rolland.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2:00PM on Saturday November 27, 2021, at Clark Chapel 405 Center St. Dowagiac with Pastor Tonnie Blackamore, officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Those wishing to share a memory of Ernestine online may do so at www.clarkch.com.
