Evalene Maria “Evie” Rowley

April 29th, 1953 - January 8th, 2026

Evie's Obituary

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Evalene Marie Rowley, passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1953, and was 72 years old.

To us, Evie was the heart of our family. A devoted wife to Frank, a loving mother to Frank Jr. and John, and a proud grandma to Keegan, Tanner, Katya, and Michael. She was also a cherished sister to her two living brothers, Dave Crater and Larry Crater, and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews whom she adored. Evie was a loving and devoted grandmother to Keegan, Tanner, Katya, and Michael. She adored each of them and found so much happiness in their laughter, their milestones, and simply being with them. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless.

She dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse. Evie specialized in cancer research at the University of Chicago and later retired from Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Nursing was not just her profession — it was her calling. She gave her heart to her patients, and we know she changed many lives through her compassion, strength, and kindness.

After retiring, Evie and Frank followed their dream and moved to the beach community of New Buffalo, Michigan. There she found peace and joy in the outdoors, especially riding her bicycle, tending to her flowers, and watching the birds and ground squirrels run about in her yard.

Evie and Frank were active members of Sawyer Highlands Church and Converge Church, where they were part of a small group that became like family to them. Those friendships meant so much to her.

Evie was a deeply passionate person, especially when it came to the people and animals she loved. She also adored her two beloved dogs, Lucy and Annie, who stayed faithfully by her side until the very end, giving her comfort and companionship.

We will miss her more than words can say. Her love, her laughter, and her gentle spirit will live on in all of us. We are forever grateful for the time we had with her.

Evie will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
