Evelyn's Obituary

Evelyn Edna (Eichler) Rosentreter, 95, passed away on Sunday, October 8, at the Brookdale Meridian in Haslett, Michigan. Evelyn was born on August 10, 1928, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to the late Ferdinand and Linda Eichler of the same city.

A 1945 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Evelyn was a long-time employee of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) headquartered in St. Joseph.

Besides avid reading, walking and ceramics, Evelyn took a great interest in travel. She visited Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Germany, Italy, and Central America with her regular travel partners, Mary Vodopic and Ruby Hardy. Evelyn also extended ASAE summer conferences by joining Rahn and Tracy on extensive side trips.

Evelyn was also a hands-on grandmother attending her grandchildren’s many high school and university activities, most notably Morgan (swimming and waterpolo), Brandt John (lacrosse and marching band) and Rylee (volleyball and softball).

Evelyn is survived by two sons Roger L. Rosentreter of Okemos, Michigan, and Rahn L. Rosentreter of Chelsea, Michigan; daughters-in-law, Tracy A. Rosentreter and Lisa M. Root Moore; grandchildren, Morgan A. Rosentreter, Brandt John Rosentreter, and Rylee A. Rosentreter, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Army First Sergeant and World War II veteran Elmer H. Rosentreter of Stevensville, Michigan.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 12, from 11am until 1 PM at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing, www.hospiceoflansing.org, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
