Evie was born on March 16, 1939, to Joseph and Harriet Sohasky in Muskegon, MI. She attended Reeths-Puffer High School. On May 11, 1959, she married Jim Martin in Berrien Springs. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Jim’s passing in July 2018. Mom loved to watch kids and grandchildren when she wasn’t lovingly raising 3 children of her own. She faithfully worked for over 10 years as a SJHS lunchroom monitor. She was very proud of her Polish heritage. Most of all, Evie loved spending time with her family, exploring antique stores, and enjoying the wildlife, flowers, and trees in her yard. Her faith, positive outlook, and infectious laugh spilled over to everyone around her. She made people feel special and loved.

Evie is survived by children, James (Sandee) Martin of Bridgman, Paris Karsten of St. Joseph, Edward (Melanie) Martin of Lynchburg, VA; grandchildren, Jimmy (Tamara), Krystal (Jacob), Jessica (Adam), Paige (Tim), Naomi and Luke; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Sohasky of Muskegon, and Jim (Brenda) Sohasky of Sanford, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Harriet Sohasky and husband, Jim.
