Bill's Obituary
Everett “Bill” Potter, 84, of Dowagiac, passed away Monday evening, March 30, 2026 at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac, MI.
He was born on January 12, 1942, in Benton Harbor, MI, the son of the late Everett A. and Virginia A. (Radde) Potter. Bill graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1959 and Lake Michigan College, earning an associate’s degree in 1961. He continued his education at Adrian College where he earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education in 1964.
Bill was a Wood Shop teacher at Dowagiac Union High School for many years. He later worked for the State of Michigan as an employment interviewer.
Bill was a life member of the Free & Accepted Masonic Peninsular Lodge #10 in Dowagiac. He joined the lodge in 1965 and held many positions over the years, including Worshipful Master for 5 years. Bill was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where he was worthy patron 18 times. He was a member of DeMolay International, where he held every position during his 35 year membership. Bill was also a 4-H leader for 25 years, where he taught ceramics, basket making and wood burning.
Surviving are his sister, Beverly Juroff; one niece, one nephew and extended family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; long-time partner, Cheryl Ladd; and sister, Patricia Dwyer.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his family is planning a graveside service for June 2026.
