Florence's Obituary
Florence Mary Butkus, 102, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis. She was born March 20, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Bernice (Paul) Michalski.
Never one to be idle, Florence enjoyed working various jobs throughout her life, continuing to work part-time until the golden age of 85. Married to Bruno Butkus on February 10, 1945, she enjoyed spending time and supporting him as a member of both the Dowagiac VFW and Fire Department women auxiliaries. She will be missed dearly by her family.
Florence is survived by her children, Dorinda (Thomas) Arscheene, Waldemar “Walt” (Christine) Butkus, and Gregory (Tina) Butkus; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruno Butkus; and her parents.
Florence will be laid to rest alongside her husband and parents at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
