Florence's Obituary
Florence Sherry Erickson, 69, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in St. Joseph. She was born January 12, 1954 in Dowagiac, MI to Lawrence O. and Mary (Schoff) Starrett.
Flo loved many things in life, but very few came before her beloved U of M football. You could find her cheering her team on every time they played; she never missed a game. However, there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her favorite people. Flo loved hosting friends and family for 4th of July every year at her home in Decatur. She also spent over 10 years volunteering at the VFW, Post 6248, and was a life-long member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her younger years, Flo was an avid bowler alongside her sister and husband.
Florence will be missed by her son, Jason Okay; and her siblings, Clarawayne (Don) Wolford, Lawrence I. Starrett, Sandy Scowley, Wanda Wise (her twin sister), Mary Schonbok, and Rose (Steve) Long.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Kurt Erickson, whom she married on August 20, 1988; her cousin, Robert Lesniak; and her parents.
The family will be hosting a celebration of Flo’s life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the family to help offset future expenses.
