Gary “Mike” Sievert, 74, a lifelong resident of Dowagiac, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, May 16, 2025, at his home.
He was born on January 10, 1951, in Dowagiac, the son of the late Harold and Geraldine (Ward) Sievert. Mike was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving 2 years during the Vietnam conflict and earning the rank of Corporal. On October 31, 1981, he was united in marriage to Gail E. Bulmon. Mike was employed by Ameriwood Industries for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Gail Sievert; three children – Tallie Sievert, Cheryl (Kyle) Bennett and Jared (Janelle) Sievert; eight grandchildren – Darien Sievert, Taylor (Kylee) Friske, Zachary Firske, Charlie Bennett, Tatum Bennett, Owen Sievert, Harper Sievert and Grayson Sievert; two great-grandchildren – Aubrey and Rowen; and brother – John Sievert.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother – Fred Sievert.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Mike’s life will be held from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday, May 24, at VFW Post 1855, 472 E Division St, Dowagiac. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services – Starks Family Funeral Homes, Dowagiac.
