George's Obituary
George was born on January 30, 1939 in St. Joseph, to Ernest & Eleanor (Hubbard) Foster. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1957. Following school, George proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served our country until 1962 when he was honorably discharged. On September 11, 1965 George married the love of his life, Shirley Hemerling, in St. Joseph. For over 35 years, George worked as a Lineman Supervisor at Indiana Michigan Electric before he retired in 1999. George and Shirley loved spending winters down in Florida and summers at their cabin up north. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cheering on the University of Michigan football team. George was a very kind, caring and compassionate person who was always willing to help and mentor whenever it was needed. He always made family a priority and put others before himself.
George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley; children, Julie (Scott) Dawes of Battle Creek, Catherine (Brian) Cronkrite of St. Joseph, and Michael (Kathy) Foster of Cleveland, OH; grandchild, Jeremiah Roberts; and sister, Judy (Art) Beaman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Eleanor and brothers, Richard Foster, David Foster, Stephen Foster.
