Gordon W. Rochefort, 82, of Stevensville, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, December 2, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware Ave., Benton Harbor. Visitation will take place from 5-7 pm on Thursday, December 1, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Shurlie Rochefort or Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Gordon was born on May 14, 1940, to Leo and Theresa (Hines) Rochefort in Garden, MI, located in the Upper Peninsula. He was the fourth of seven sons. On March 10, 1962, he married Shurlie Tull. Professionally, Gordon owned and operated Gordons Marathon in Lincoln Township. He was also a licensed contractor and landlord for 25 years. Gordy was extremely handy and built the house he and Shurlie currently live in. He also enjoyed farming and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, becoming a Fourth Degree member. Gordy was a lifelong Catholic serving as a Eucharist Minister and usher for over 50 years at both St. Joseph and SS. John & Bernard Catholic Parish’s. Most of all, Gordon cherished time spent with his family, he was a caring person with a huge heart, always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shurlie Rochefort; children, Mark Rochefort, Kimberly (Chris) Smith and Matthew Rochefort; grandchildren, Adam (Tanya) Rochefort, Alexander (Remi) Rochefort, Kelsey (Zach) King, Lillian Smith, Carson Smith and Charlotte Smith; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Eliza, Logan and Molly and brothers, Gaylord (Mary) Rochefort and Duane (Linda) Rochefort. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Theresa Rochefort and brothers, Harland, Dale, Gary and Joseph Rochefort.
