Hazel's Obituary
Hazel Jane Ladouceur Quimby passed away peacefully Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Jane was born to Jeannette and Hyacinth Ladouceur in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1939. At the age of 11 she moved to Minneapolis. She made subsequent moves to Florida and finally Michigan.
Jane graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis in 1957.
It was in home economics class that she made her start towards becoming a very skilled seamstress. Her teacher said that “you could wear anything Jane made inside-out and you couldn’t tell the difference.”
After high school she became a ballroom dance instructor with The Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She taught both individuals and couples.
The most important thing in her life was her relationship with her heavenly Father, Jehovah God. She loved learning about him and helping others to learn about him as well.
One of the Bible truths she cherished is the teaching of the resurrection. Her particular hope was in the resurrection to life on earth, an earth without all the pain and suffering we see today.
Jane is survived by her children Desiree (Sam) Cook of Saint Joseph, Michigan, and Damon (Amber) Quimby of Saint Petersburg, Florida. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Cook of New York, Stacia (Miki) Zazzeroni of Italy, and Ian (Holly) and Ashton Quimby of Florida.
While living in Florida, in addition to other family members, she was helped greatly for years by her surviving sister ORhonda Antoine and her husband Richard. She is also survived by her brother Ordeen Braathen of Minneapolis.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Jack and Harris Ladouceur.
Per Jane’s request, there will be no public memorial service.
The family would like to give their many thanks of appreciation for the years of kind loving assistance that she received at Royalton Manor. We also would like to thank Corewell Hospice for the kind and diligent care they provided.
