She was always so sweet and kind whether I saw her in the hallways of Dowagiac junior high, or when I rabbit hunted with her son John and his beagle Fritzi at their home outside town. My condolences to John and Mary.

Condolences to the Leach family. I knew Helen through Dowagiac Schools. Mrs. Leach was always efficient and kept the office running smoothly. Helen and her sister sponsored a trip to downtown Chicago and a dinner theater club twice a year. Everyone looked forward to it. You had to sign up right away because it filled up quickly. It was so much fun and you never had to worry about anything because it ran without a hitch. Good memories. My thoughts are with the family.

When my mom, Mary, lived alone next door to Helen, after a lifetime of being neighbors, Helen shared her many friends by introducing mom to her twice-a-week coffee group of widows, immeasurably brightening Mom’s life.
As mom became less mobile, Helen took mom’s newspapers and mail in to her every day, for years. When she was running behind, she even called mom to let her know she’d be late.
Helen was thoughtful to everyone and her continuous acts of kindness to mom and me are too numerous to acknowledge here but are never far from my mind. She will be missed.
