Indira's Obituary
Indira was born on April 28, 1954, in Mehsana, Gujarat, India, to Chinubhai and Saraswatiben Shah. She married the love of her life, Dr. Mukund Shah, on February 21, 1975, in India. Soon after, they immigrated to the United States, where they built a beautiful life in St. Joseph—raising their family and becoming a welcoming presence in the local Indian community.
Indira had a deep love for cooking and took great joy in feeding others, always ensuring that no one left her home without a warm, freshly prepared meal. She was outgoing, adventurous, and well-traveled, embracing new experiences and cultures with ease. Known for her ever-present smile, strong faith, and determined spirit, she lived her life with positivity and resilience. She enjoyed playing cards, staying active, and had a keen sense of style. Indira placed great importance on education and took immense pride in raising her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She was especially known for welcoming newcomers to the community and for her desire to help those in need, reflecting her generous and compassionate heart.
Indira is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Mukund Shah; her children, Dr. Ami (Matthew) Shine and Dr. Chirag (Anita) Shah; her beloved grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Luca, Mia, and Deven; and her siblings, Dipakbhai (Indira) Shah and Sushilaben (Jitendra) Shah.
