James Joseph Calamari, 68, of Elkhart, IN, was discovered deceased at his home Friday, April 17, 2026.

Born on September 19, 1957, in Peekskill, New York, Jim was the son of the late Dewitt and Diane (Dunn) Calamari. Jim enlisted in the United States Army immediately after graduating from Yorktown High School.

Jim found his greatest joy riding motorcycles including, his Harley Davidson. He loved going everywhere, regardless of how short or long the trip was, provided that the weather cooperated.

Jim is survived by his children – Tanya Calamari and Benjamin (Julie) Fitzgerald; grandchildren – Charlotte Dailey, Seth Dailey, Claire Fitzgerald and, David Fitzgerald; great - granddaughter – Cecilia Sandburg; and siblings – Ellen Calamari, Chris Calamari, Karen Schunk, Andrea Summers and, Tommy Calamari.

A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 8th, at Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, with Pastor Stacey Wilder, Calvary Bible Church of Dowagiac, officiating. Friends may visit with his family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The Cassopolis VFW will be performing military funeral honors.
