James's Obituary
James Edward Savage Sr., 72, of South Haven, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born on June 15, 1953 in Chicago Illinois to Edward and Virginia Savage.
James is survived by his son, James Savage Jr., daughter, Sarah Savage, stepson, Mitch (Michelle) Gibson, stepsons Neil Duncan and Vince Duncan and grandchildren; Kiarah Nathan, Emily Gibson, Mitchell Gibson, Juliet Gibson, Cayla Murphy, Devin Gibson, Allie Gibson and Jacob Gibson. Also survived by siblings; Marilyn (Danny) Buchman, Mag (Buck) Wilsmann, Art (Rita)Savage, Ed Savage and former wife Patricia Savage.
James worked for Checker Motors for 31 years. He was very involved at work and served for a time as the Union President of Local USW 7682. James came from a musical family and had a deep passion for music, singing and playing lead guitar. He led the Jimmy Savage Band with siblings and close friends and played at churches in the area the majority of his adult life. He was also a life long Detroit Lions fan who watched every single game and went to see some games with family. James was a strong man of faith whose family meant the world to him and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He especially loved taking his kids on vacation when they were young. Heaven is now full of the sweet sounds of James Savage music and his family will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Saturday August 2, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life at 12 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church 429, Michigan Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090. Pastor Christina Fleming will officiate. James will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery.
