James's Obituary

James Conner Griffin, 94, of Coloma, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at home.

A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Bright Star Tabernacle, 5130 Old Pipestone Rd., Eau Claire with Pastor Mike Fields officiating and military honors rendered by the United States Army and Stevensville American Legion. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 11-noon also at the church. Inurnment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Carole Smith.

James, lovingly known as Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Ole Papa and Gentleman Jim, was born on October 21, 1931, in Bald Knob, AR, to John and Wilma (Scarborough) Griffin, Sr.

Jim honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Professionally, he dedicated many years as a maintenance foreman with Ancast, Inc. He loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed fishing and gardening. Known for his generosity, Jim could also fix anything. Most of all he cherished his family and time spent with them. Jim was also blessed to have one very special lady, Judy Gardner, come into his life after the passing of his wife.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Carole Smith and Marcell (Rickey) Knighten; special lady, Judy Gardner; sister, Stella (Wayne) Wetkowski; special sister-in-law, Edith (Eddie) Johnson; grandchildren, Jerry (Jodi) Collins, Tonya Collins, Maggie Siegert Collins, James Siegert Collins, Eric (Alicia Rooker) Doerr, David (Alexis Hiser) Doerr, Melinda (John) Miller, Sarah (Terry) Chambers, Jenn Foose, Jessica (Robert) Foster and Latonya Foose; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Bryan, Jerry Jr., Orianna, Annabelle, Joel, Elijah, Scarlett, Ashleigh, Kayleigh, Peytan, Jadyn; estranged daughter, Mary (Larry) Taylor and many other beloved family members. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris (Smith) Griffin; son, James Conner Griffin, Jr.; grandson, James Doerr and siblings, John Griffin Jr., Irene (Alex) Buchbinder, Mary (Ivan) Price, Leon (Betty) Griffin, Bill Griffin, Donald (Joyce) Griffin and Robert "Bobby" Griffin.
