James's Obituary

James Franklin Murphy, 85 passed away at home on Monday, March 4, 2024. Born on December 20, 1938 in Versailles Kentucky to Eddie and Iona Murphy. United in marriage on October 27, 1959 to the late Mae Louise Key.

James is survived by children; James Murphy and Iona Murphy, sister Christine Mathis and special granddaughter JyLynn.

Preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Bill Murphy, Tom Murphy, Marvin Murphy, Curtis Murphy, Nancy Morrow and Faye Eldridge.

James worked for Bohn Aluminum for 32 years before retiring. He loved to sing bluegrass, gospel, country and 50’s music that he played on the guitar. James was very involved at the Ray of Light Church of God, where he also played the guitar and sang of his love of Jesus. James was a gentleman, never had an unkind word; always making people laugh. He spent a lot of time fishing and farming his own land where he grew a big vegetable garden every year, and gave most of the vegetables away. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation for James will be Monday, March 11, 2024 at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan, 49090, from 12 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 p.m. James will be laid to rest beside his wife May. Bud and Bill will officiate the Funeral Service.
