Janice's Obituary

Janice Marie Strickland, age 66, of Covert, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Bronson Hospital on September 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on August 12, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, at Cook County Hospital. Janice was a proud graduate of Covert High School, Class of 1979.

She was known for her warm heart, loving kindness, and the way she made everyone around her feel like family. She also worked as a caregiver for several years, providing loving support to many families.

Janice loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bowling, softball, fishing, shopping, yard sales, flea markets, and trips to the casino. A devoted Michigan football fan, she loved to cook, especially for her favorite holiday, Christmas, bringing her family together to celebrate.

She leaves behind her significant other, Larry Muff; her son, Larry (Mechelle) Strickland; her sisters, Dorothy (Ezell) Hall and her longtime caregiver, Shirley GreenBey; her brothers, Daryle (Karen) GreenBay, Anthony (Anita) GreenBay, Micheal (Teresa) GreenBey, and Harvey GreenBey; and her cherished grandchildren, Dajauhn (DJ) Smith, Karri Strickland, Infiniti Thompson, Javantez Thompson, Kamari Thomas, Lamarion Thompson, and Mia Strickland. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Felicia Hall.

Janice was also blessed with many lifelong friendships. She leaves behind special friends Philomena Cunningham, Beverly Thomas, Lena Strong, Linda Burton, and Rejenar Whitfield, who shared in her laughter, love, and treasured memories.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Venice Strickland; her stepfather, Annais GreenBey; her son, Carl Lee Strickland; her sister, Diane Buchanan; and her brother, James Strickland.

Janice was a member of Resurrection Life Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop Joe O. Wilkins and First Elect Lady Letitia Wilkins, where her faith was an important part of her life.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation for Janice will be held on Friday September 12, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Starks Family Funeral Homes - Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, MI 49090. Janice's remains will be kept in an urn at the residence of her son, Larry Strickland.
