Jay's Obituary
Jay Keeler, 65, passed away on April 30.
Jay was a treasured member of the academic community, and beloved by students and colleagues alike. He was a dedicated educator who went above and beyond to help his students in any way that he could, including paying tuition and buying textbooks for those in need. He had a profound passion for lifelong learning, and dedicated much of his life to the interdisciplinary study of computer information systems and natural sciences, which he delighted in sharing with others.
Jay loved his family deeply and is survived by his wife, Leslie, and their six children, Ryan, Andrew, Alex, Sarah, Eric, and Adrian. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, raising butterflies, and appreciating the outdoors.
Jay was a fierce advocate for social and environmental justice and a proud union member.
Visitation will be held at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Michigan (2650 Niles Road) on Monday, May 5 from 5-7 pm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 6 at 1 pm.
