Jean's Obituary
Jean Ruth Skibbe, 86, of Eau Claire, MI, passed away surrounded by family members on Thursday – April 30, 2026 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Jean was born on Nov. 29, 1939 in Coloma, MI to the late Harold and Ann (Osborn) Molter. She was preceded in death by her former husband Walter Skibbe on Dec. 23, 2021. Jean is survived by her daughter Susan (Matthew) McMahon of Zeeland, MI; and grandchildren Tyler Matthew McMahon and Brittany Nicole McMahon. She is also preceded in death by identical twin sons – Mark Harold Skibbe and Michael Kenneth Skibbe.
Jean loved working on the family farm – farming fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed going to the South Bend Farmers Market with her farmed products. She was a familiar presence at the market where everyone knew her. Jean’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren and spending time with them and her daughter Susan and her husband Matt. One of her greatest joys was traveling with her family to Walt Disney World which created lasting memories for all.
Jean will be remembered for her warmth, her gentle spirit, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Jean had the best care these past two and a half years by her wonderful caregivers Jackie and Corey. The support and love they gave her was wonderful.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest at the Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery in Eau Claire, MI.
