Jo's Obituary
Jo Ann Emerson of Stevensville, our beloved Mother, passed away at St. Joseph hospital on May 6 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born at St. Joseph hospital on Feb. 16, 1950 to Joseph and Linda Ossiginac and graduated from St. Joseph High School with the class of 68’.
Jo was a life long artist with a connection to water. She lived in Florida before marrying into the navy and living many years on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Stateside she spent some time in Biloxi, Mississippi and Frisco, Texas before making her way back home. She was a proud Native American and active member of the "Little River Band of Ottawa Indians”.
Later in life Mom really settled in. She lived independently and close to family while still exploring her amazing artistic talent, till she literally could no more. She was blessed in her last days by the arrival of her first Grandchild Russell Emerson.
Jo is survived and missed by her two sons Trey Emerson and Andrew Charleston, her grandson Russell, her sister Lynn Davis, as well as multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her first son, James Story.
A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00pm on Sat. May 17, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave. St. Joseph, 49085
