Jo L. Schroeder, 77, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Riverview Cemetery, 2300 Portage Ave., South Bend, in the chapel. Memorial contributions in Jo’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
Jo was born on August 15, 1944, in Hayti, MO. She graduated from Brandywine High School in 1963, which was the first graduating class. On April 27, 1963, she married James W. Schroeder in Bertrand Bible Church, Niles. Jo enjoyed crossword puzzles but most of all cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jo is survived by her parents, Harold and Pauline Mathis; husband of 58 years, James Schroeder; children, Kerry (Kelley) King and Jimmy (Belinda) Schroeder; grandchildren, Amanda Wilson, Shannon Hancock, Kristina (Adam) Hawkins, Delaina (Kyle) Schmitt, Abby (Sal) Ramos; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kierra, Ezra, Ellie, Liam, Taytem, Luke, David and siblings, Mac (Geraldine) Mathis, Dewayne Mathis and Barbara Bolin.
