John Michael Bartalone, 68, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Corewell Health Lakeland, St. Joseph.
A celebration of life will take place from 4 pm until 6 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Buchanan City Fire Department, 105 W. Front St., Buchanan, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to The Guy Harvey Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, Buchanan. John was born on June 29, 1957, in Benton Harbor. He graduated from Eau Claire High School. Early in his life, John took on photography, was a member of an underwater construction crew while employed with Al Sebrechts and managed Powerhouse Gym where he trained to compete in a body building contest. He was always into nutrition, holistic health and wellbeing.
John found his greatest joy outdoors, particularly the beach, living in Florida and swimming in the ocean. He was also a proud “Parrothead”, being a huge Jimmy Buffet fan. However, his greatest accomplishment in life was being the father to Amy.
John is survived by his daughter, Amy Bartalone; her mother, Sally Jankowski; grandson, Austin (Keylee) Dill; great-granddaughter, Lainee Dill and siblings, Robert Mike (Myra) Adams; Maryanne (Jim) Wilbur and Penny (Lee) Maggert. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Yvonne (Payne) & Gene Adams and father and step-mother, John and Sandie Bartalone.
