John's Obituary
John Whisenant Sr, 76, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at his daughter’s residence in Goshen, IN. He was born on April 11, 1946 in Benton Harbor.
On September 26, 1969, John was united in marriage to Joanne Ross. John was a longtime member and deacon at Glenwood Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dowagiac.
Surviving are two children, John (Joyce) Whisenant Jr of St. Joseph, MI and Joanna (Sean) Haynes of Goshen, IN; two grandchildren, Allysa Craig and Christopher Snyder; sister, Sandy Keoble; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 41 years, Joanne Whisenant; parents, Lloyd and Gladys (Barnwell) Whisenant; and three brothers, James, William and David Whisenant.
Funeral services for John will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, at Glenwood Seventh-day Adventist Church, 51089 Glenwood Rd, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service. Pastor Alex Niculaescu will officiate. Inurnment will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 16, in South Wayne Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Glenwood Seventh-day Adventist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac, MI.
